Aarya was at my studio a few weeks ago just before her first birthday. Aarya’s mom bought a beautiful dress for the session and I ordered a giant cupcake from Cynthia’s Custom Cakes.

Cake smash sessions are fun and messy not just for the birthday baby but for parents and the photographer as well. Aarya was very curious but cautious at the same time. She wasn’t quite sure what to do with the cake until she got the permission and encouragement from her parents. Like any babies, Aarya touched it, played with it, tasted it, and shared it with all of us – making us messy. Aarya was walking already so keeping her sitting down to keep the mess just on the backdrop wasn’t gonna happen.
