Newborn Photography Vancouver | James

March was a busy month before my trip in April. Taking a couple of weeks as a newborn photographer is challenging as you don’t know when the babies will arrive. We photographed 26 newborn babies and lots of expecting moms in March. Here is one of those precious newborns we photographed in March. It was a Newborn Essence package and the client picked this basket prop as one of two setups. And they also liked to have black and white images so the baby on dad’s hands and samba pose was perfect.

We hope to see him when he turns 6 months and/or 1 year.

We started with a blue blanket on a bean bag. We’ve got some images (naked and covered) in a taco pose (folded in half) and a couple of different poses in the cute white pants and hat outfit.

Then we wrapped the baby for the basket setup. With wraps, we go from fully wrapped to almost naked. We used a couple of different looks (here, a simple wrap first and bear hat and wrap set second).

The third setup was a metal basket. For variety, we like to choose one basket for lying down pose and the other basket for facing forward. The metal basket is great for facing forward poses. And we make sure the baby is sleeping for this pose and have daddy sitting right next to the baby for safety. Newborn babies startle and can lift up his head in this pose when startling. The daddy is there to support his head when that happens. We never leave the baby along in this pose. We try to fit in a couple of different hats and one without a hat in this pose.

The last setup was back on the beanbag and that is when I like to have the baby completely naked. The superman outfit is not ours. We give clients an option to bring a personal item they want us to use in some images. And the superman outfit is perfect for bum up pose.

And of course we captured the baby with mom and dad as well.

The newborn complete session takes 2.5 hours to 3.5 hours and give you lots of images in variety. We hope to see this little one when he turns 6 months.
